Meet Raylene! This adorable kitten came to our rescue after a man was giving away kittens in a box in front of Target this past spring. A young man took one as a gift for his girlfriend, but she didn’t want it. So AC PAW took the kitten and placed her in a foster home, where it soon became apparent that the little kitten couldn’t see. Her foster family named her Raylene - for Ray Charles - who didn’t let being blind stop him, and neither does Raylene! She is a very sweet, resourceful, and gentle kitten. She gets around just fine by using hearing, touch, and senses we can’t even imagine. She also bumps into things, but not hard and not often. A lap is just about her favorite place. The funniest thing she does is to swipe and chase and jump at invisible objects. She clearly thinks she has something; we just can’t see it. She plays with real toys too, but not as enthusiastically as the invisible ones. :)

Although she compensates for her blindness pretty well, Raylene will need a family that can meet her special needs. She must be an indoor cat in a stable home. A changing environment will be hard for her. If you are interested in meeting Raylene, a private meeting can be set up with her foster mom.

Pistol is a beautiful one year old short haired Calico. She was a very sick girl when she came to AC PAW with her five babies. Her kittens were very sick too, and we did all we could to try and save them. Sadly her kittens’ immune systems were not strong enough and they did not survive. It took a while to nurse Pistol back to health, but she is doing great and ready to go to her new home! Pistol has been through so much for such a young kitty. She is still a little shy, but has slowly learned to socialize with other cats and dogs. She is a very small cat who is very very sweet and has a lot of love to give. You can meet Pistol this Saturday during our adoption hours at PetSmart.

Baby Ruth, or as her foster mom calls her “Miss Ruth”, has been featured as our Pet of the Week before, but hasn’t found a home yet. We are hoping that by featuring her again someone will want to come meet her, fall in love with her, and will want to take her home. She has lived in two foster homes and spent time at PetSmart, and as much as her foster mom loves her, she knows Miss Ruth’s forever home is long overdue. When Miss Ruth’s mom was rescued by AC PAW over two years ago, she was pregnant and gave birth to four kittens. Baby Ruth’s mom and siblings were adopted, but Baby Ruth is still with us and we are not sure why because she is such a sweet girl. She is a two year old short hair gray tabby. Because she is a Manx, she is tail-less cat just like her mom. Miss Ruth is very gentle, well behaved, and loves to have her back scratched. She is playful, creative, and so entertaining. She will keep you laughing all day! She loves people and her foster mom says she is just a joy to have around the house. Baby Ruth first lived in a foster home with other cats and dogs. She did not do well with other animals, so we feel she would do best in a home where she is the one and only. She will require a special moist food diet, which is a small thing to ask for a kitty that has so much love to give in return. You can meet Miss Ruth this weekend during our adoption hours at PetSmart,
