AC PAW Animal Rescue

AC PAW was founded to give animals in northern Michigan a second chance at life. Since 1995, we have rescued over 8,000 dogs and cats and have placed them into loving homes.

Meet Junior! He’s not your typical cat. He loves to play in the water! He is just a happy guy who is playful and loves everyone. Junior is a 7 month old orange and white kitten who is such a sweetie!

Our Pet of the Week:

Leah is a four year old beautiful long haired calico who is front-declawed. Leah first came to AC PAW when her owner passed away. She was adopted shortly after she came to us, but very sadly returned as the people had another male cat who became jealous of Leah and was doing damage to their home. Their decision to bring her back to us was a very difficult one for them as she is a wonderful cat and they became very attached to her. But they wanted to do what was best for Leah and said whoever adopts her will be a very lucky person. She is a treasure. She is a lovely cat who is in good health, very social, loves to be brushed and minds her potty manners perfectly. She gets along well with dogs and other cats. You can see Leah at PetSmart.

Zoey is a very pretty gray four year old cat. She was owner-relinquished as the owner could no longer keep her. Zoey is a calm cat who will tolerate other cats if she has to, but would prefer to be your one and only.

Happy Wednesday! Shadow is smiling for you! She would really smile if you would come to visit her at PetSmart. She is a beautiful and very sweet 1 1/2 year old Tortie who is very friendly. She loves people and will do best as a one and only cat in her new home.

Say hello to Maddie! She is a very sweet one and a half year old lab who had been left at animal control with her puppies and became ill. She is all better now and is looking for a forever loving forever home.

Our Pet of the Week:

Rocky is a 10 year old cat who had been abused since he was a kitten. He is in a foster home now, where he is finally beginning to show some trust, but is still a bit unsure at times and can become unpredictable. He will need someone who is willing to give him the space he needs. If someone would like to foster him, with the possibility of adopting him, please contact his foster mom Liz at 231-649-5970. He is a beautiful tiger and white kitty who was declawed on all four paws before he came to AC PAW. He is a wonderful cat who needs someone that understands he came from a very abusive situation and that he needs time to feel safe and needs time to learn to love, something he had never had his whole life.

Charlie is a 3 or 4 year old cat who came to AC PAW with a badly infected ear. After some surgery by a great vet he is as good as new! Charlie is an independent cat who likes attention, but on his own terms most of the time. He will make a great addition to an adult family.

Say hi to Gilligan! He’s another new addition to the AC PAW family. Gilligan’s family could no longer keep him. He is 3 years old and has a severe flea allergy and most of his hair has fallen out. He is looking much better since his hair is starting to grow back. He is a loving but shy boy and would love to find his forever loving home soon.

Meet Chrissy! She is brand new to the AC PAW family and is a 3 month old Shepherd mix pup. She is very sweet and very energetic! She will be ready for adoption soon! (Do you think she’ll grow into those adorably giant ears?)

Our Pet of the Week:

Gala is one of our three kittens who were found under an apple tree and named for apples by their rescuers. The kittens were tiny and sick, their eyes swollen shut with infection, but after loving foster care, they grew to be healthy, adorable kittens. Gala’s litter-mates have found their homes, now it is her turn. She is the sweetest girl, who purrs, and loves to be touched and held. She is a very pretty white five month old kitten who is very playful, funny and has  a dear squeaky voice. She gets along well with other cats. She hasn’t been around dogs or kids, but is fearless and young enough to adjust to them
